[GROUP] vs4.8 – 9 – Paul tells us to dwell on things that are honorable, just, pure etc. what sort of things should we dwell on?
vs4.12 – Why might Paul describe contentment as being a “secret”?
[GROUP] vs4.13 – this verse is often quoted and claimed as a “personal” verse of encouragement – rewrite it in your own word to share with the group.
[GROUP] vs4.14 – 20 – straight after declaring strength in God to do all things in Phil 4.13 – what does Paul say he is thankful for?
Applying to your own life
Developing and maintaining unity in the Church – is there a public issue of disunity that you should act to resolve? Is there an area that you could contribute in to develop unity?
Meditate on Philippians 4.8 and talk about it with other Christians. Consider – Truth, honor, justice, purity, and the other things Paul tells us to dwell on. Is there anything that you need to do? Is there any activity God is telling you to get involved in? Are there any scriptures you could meditate on to help you focus on those things?
Find some other examples from scripture which show us the importance of unity amongst Christians.
