Choose a praise and worship song that we sing at church then come prepared to share the song and your thoughts on it.

We will have a Bluetooth speaker available so we can listen to the song before you share your ideas about it.

Use the questions below as a guide for the information to share on.

• What’s the backstory to the song?When and where was it written?
  • By who?
  • Why did they write it?
• Find a YouTube version or audio version if you can to share at group night
• What are key themes of the song?
• What is the song about?
• What made you choose this song?
• What is your favourite part and what does it mean to you?
• Write and share your own verse for the song
• Is the song based on scripture? If so which ones?
• Do you know anything about the author?
• Does the music match the song’s words?

Group Activity

• Once together as a group take turns listening to the songs and sharing thoughts and ideas
• give opportunity for others in the group to also share
• Discuss – “Is worship simply singing Christian songs in a church?”
• Come up with a group definition of worship, based on scripture
• Pray together for those writers who put into words and music songs praise and thanksgiving
• Find and share some Psalms which contain worship passages in them
